You really do get what you pay for

I have a friend who went shooting with me a few times and really liked it. So he decided to get his own rifle. He went out and picked up a howa m1500 combo rifle with a scope. I think the scope was a Nikko 4x14. He asked me about the quality of the scope and I told him most combo rifle scope packages are kinda low quality. Well after about 30 shots I looked through the scope and the reticle was about 20 degrees off. It must have come lose from the recoil. My friend was so bummed his brand new scope has to get sent back to the factory. I told him to just buy a better quality scope but he doesn't want to spend the extra money. I'm glad I did my homework and asked questions on this forum about scopes. I little knowledge goes a long way

He made a fine choice in rifles though. The best budget commercial action available IMHO.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
