    help with a Savage 340

Ok, I am trying to re-barrel a Savage 340 in 30-30 Win. I got the rifle as a pass down and dont want to let it go so. The barrel is bent and I want to replace the barrel. I tried my wrench for newer models but it is way to large. Anyone know of a place I can find one. Have already tried Brownells and they are a no go. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and for you time.

I had to use a piece of an old leather belt ( real leather ) that I roughed up with sandpaper and a good sized pipe wrench. The leather gripped while cushioning the barrel nut from the teeth of the pipe wrench. Take you time and be easy, a little at a time and Good Luck.

Thanks, I may have to try that. So far no one has a better answer. Even Savage has not written back about it either so....
