Anyone in Pittsburgh area with Savage barrel swap tools?

So, I got some quotes to install a barrel onto my action, and it's pushing $100 which seems a bit out of line to me. Anyone in the Pittsburgh area willing to swap a barrel for me and function test the rifle? I'm fine paying a fee, but for $100 I'll buy a vise, wrench, and learn how myself. Barrel is 7mm RUM.

I'm guessing that is Pa and not TX. Cause I could meet ya in Texarkana (about half way) and swap them for you.

Go ahead and buy the tools and headspace gauges. I have done it many times now. If I can do it any one can. Then you will be able to swap out barrels to your hearts content. Good luck

Correct, PA. Thanks for the offer.

I already have gun ADD, having the tools would make it even worse, lol.

Call ER Shaw and see if they'll do it for you since they're local if no members from here are able to help you out. Nice bunch of guys at the machine shop and at the store front.

Just a thought, but you have a gunwreaker school close by, http://www.pagunsmith.edu

Maybe one of the students would take the project on. Give'm a call, can't hurt.

Big vice/barrel vice, barrel nut wrench, go headspace gage.

I used masking take over reciver and barrel by the barrel nut. I used a big pipe wrench to loosen nut, and bought an old style non smooth barrel nut So i can use the star patern barrel nut wrench. Easy peasy.

It's all good. I found the gauges to rent. Just gonna get a different smith to do it. I don't trust him with everything, but I figure that's pretty basic. He'll test fire it too.
