    Savage Model II Prairie Dog

I bought a lightly used Model II 22-250 from the Cabela's Wholesale rack. These guns don't seem to get a lot of play here, but mine has impressed me in my limited load development. I got a steal of a deal on it. Seems like I paid $270 bucks or so after a coupon. Who else has one of these gems and how is it treating you?

This was a 3 shot group using Sierra 50 Grain Blitz Kings.

This was a 3 shot group using 55 grain Game Kings.

The only load I have tried that wasn't just outstanding was 55 grain Barnes TTSX. They are long bullets and didn't stabilize well.

Sounds like a great deal. I have a savage 11 in 30.06 and 243. Both punch over their weight, sub moa. My 22-250 loves Sierra GK and Nosler BT. Looks like you got a shooter!

The savage model II was sold only by Cabella's and I have only seen two others, but I thought they look like model 12's to me.
Ya'll hang on I'm gonna drive closer

Where can I see a picture of this Model 2 you speak of?
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

I have seen it listed variously as a Model 2, a Model II and a model 11. Oddly the roll mark on my barrel is very light, but it looks like a roman numeral 2. It is also called the Prairie Dog. A little work on Google should give you a pic.

    It's a Model 11 with a poor roll mark.

Thank you! It's a shooter and a bargain for sure.

Darn, I thought there was a new savage model out there! Savage Gen II or something. One where maybe everything was trued and the bolt work done by Fred was included. Snap!

That would require me to get off the computer and finish painting the Kitchen.
