need to find a stripped action (stevens 200)

Hey guys, first time poster here

im putting together a long-range shooter thats going to center around a stevens 200 action (300WM).
    -stevens 200 action
    -sharpshooter trigger
    -stockade stock (glass bedded myself)
    -Aftermarket (likely custom) barre
    -harris bipod
-bushnell 4200 havn't decided on magnification yet.

    on to the questions

1)How is the stevens 200 factory stock if i glass bed it myself? (in case i wanna save money)

2)Where on earth can i guy just the action from a stevens 200. People say they get them as low as a 100-150 bucks but i cant even find them anywhere.

    thanks

The Stevens 200 action is great. Just an Savage 10/110.

The Steves factory stock is wimpy. Not worth the effort to correct its short comings IMHO. But others have done a great job on theirs, just do a search here.

The only actions I have seen for sale cost more than a whole Stevens 200. Just buy the gun and go from there.

by wimpy do you mean that it will effect the gun's performance or just feels like a toy and kicks like a mule...

I may just buy the gun and glass bed the factory stock while i wait for my custom stock... (14wks) Plus ive never glass bedded a gun before the crappy stock will be good practice.

    Forend is very flexible.

I paid $199 plus tax for both my Stevens 200's at a southern sporting goods chain. Cant mention their name because they dont advertise here. Their regular price on a .270 is $245.

But $230 plus shipping and credit card surcharge plus a few weeks wait isnt too bad a price for just the action, I guess.

You might be able to pick up a used one on one of the auctions.
