Finally I managed to get my SHH to the range. The rife is a .308 stock with just a DPMS Miculek muzzle brake.
I have my Leupold VX-R 4-12x scope on quick release mounts and 2-piece bases.
First of all I have to say that for the price of rifle, we are getting an excellent package.
Then, the muzzle brake. WOW! it really tames the rifle. I did not know what to expect to tell you the truth, but it really makes a big difference. I had shot the rifle without it too and it kicks as a typical 308, but now with the brake, I feel I am shooting my 5.56 if not less! Very hard to go back without it now! LOL!
I am a fanatic of the Sierra Match King 168. I have shot probably 20-25 different brands, types and the performance of the SMK is simply unbeatable!
I only took half a box with me today and after zeroing my scope, here's my attempts for decent groups...
this is my last 2 rounds group...
I tried and some Fusion 165gr and some American Eagle 150gr. for both, the groups were in the 1.5 moa range, very acceptable for hunting, without even trying to shoot great... Just aim and shoot, no controlled breathing, no nothing...

I will probably leave it as is. I want to have a reliable and cheap rifle for hunting, and compared to my R700P LTR with a huge Vortex scope, the Savage is very light!
in the next couple of weeks I will go to an outdoor range and play at the 200 and maybe 300 yard line...
I bet that Miculek brake was an awesome display of sound in that indoor range! Love the fireballs.

Good job Kouzman! You've got to love an out of the box rifle that will shoot like that with factory loads and a Tupperware stock.
Looks like I lucked out too! Just finished my new 308 Hog Hunter modifications and worked up a load in my back yard. All I can say is "wow", this factory barrel will consistently shoot sub 0.5" groups @100 yds. when I do my part. My pet load for this rifle is going to be Lapua brass, Fed 210M primers, 43.5 gr RL 15 and 168 grain AMAX touching the lands or 0.020" off the lands.

Ditto on the modified HogHunter. I put a stock Harrell's brake on mine, factory barrel is shooting under an inch at 200 yards with almost everything I load for it. Going to be a handy and accurate hunting rifle....I put mine in a slightly modified tupperware stock to keep weight down. With a name like HogHunter it has to be UGLY!

The rifle is awesome. I am so glad that I bought it. I know you can go crazy with the mods but it would defeat the purpose why I bought it.
Plus I am saving up money for an Ares SCR in August and a custom 300 win mag for long range sniping.
I definitely see the hog hunter becoming my goto hunting rifle for deer and the like!
