hopefully ELK!! Maybe Mulies too. Little much for Whitetails but with lighter 185 grn loads it would be ok.

buymore, it's not "too much" for deer. I use my 358Win with 225grn SGK's on whitetail. The thing about a heavy, slow moving bullet, 2,500fps or less, you can hit shoulder bone, anchor the animal right there, and not hurt any meat. For the same reason, I use 220grn SPH in my 30/06. I just bought a 444 Marlin barrel for my Handi Rifle and I can't wait to put a 265grn slug through "Bucky Buck" and see the results. It's a great feeling to look through the scope after you've broke the shoot and see you've knocked him off his feet, and not destroyed any meat. :-)

yeap, slow moving heavy bullets are great for least amount of meat damage and eat all the way up to the bullet hole.

well I'm certainly anxious to get my rifle. I can hunt West Virginia Whitetails with it, so it may get a trial run this fall on Whitetails and Elk or Mulies next Oct. Not even sure I'll buy a muzzle brake but wanted to find out just in case. I would think that somewhere in the box or right on the thread protector it would say what the threads are but since I didn't see on Savage website anywhere I was going to assume it would let me know.
