    BMAG Bolt Mod

I know you can buy aftermarket bolts for the B.MAG and I did... I don't, however, care for the fit of the part. It seemed to have some play when the bolt was closed and the original piece fit much better.
I don't like the shape of the original bolt knob and found it uncomfortable to use. This being said, I came up with my solution. I cut the original handle off the end and I tig welded a 1/4 20 bolt to it at the angle I wanted. I love the look and feel of this mod and think it's how the bolt should have been designed to begin with. I have since shortened the bolt I welded on so there are no threads showing.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

I was going to start a new thread but maybe, if it's alright, I'll just ask the question in here. I looked at a B Mag today and was not terribly impressed with the bolt either. Does this mod you did improve how well the bolt opens and closes. The bolt seemed really stiff to me, but with the added leverage you've added to this it might feel like it opens and closes a bit more normal.

    Hi
Very nice Perfect Job. Love the Bolt Knob. Looks Factory. Did you Spray the Bolt Black after you Welded the Nut On?

Pete: yes after grinding the welds flush I painted it ultra flat black.

Lomfs24: Yes it helps a lot! the extra length helps with the leverage thus making it easier. and the shape of the factory knob is awful.
