    Pre-purchase MKII accutrigger stock questions...

Found a really good deal on a MKII heavy barrel with RB trigger and BSA Platinum 8-32x44 scope. I want to put a different stock on it in the future, because the stock now is a benchrest thumbhole. What info do I need from the gun to know what kind of stock I can put on it? Looking at a BV, or the Boyd TR look-alike. Pic I have shows a hole in front of the loading port, and what looks like 2 piece bases.

For the most part the gun should take about any stock you want. In the last couple of years Savage changed the receivers on the MKII' guns. The new gun have the "E" receiver. The only way to tell is to take one apart and know what your looking at. The "E" receiver has more pillars, and a different trigger group, it also has a double pin for the barrel, and a slightly different contour to the barrel.

I can not say 100% the gun your looking at is not a "E" receiver, but I would say chances are good for it not being one. Therefore you can use the stocks around.

Call Savage with the SN and they can tell you if it is a "E" receiver or not. Unless you have pictures of the action out of the stock they will not tell a thing. I would say it would be a waste to put the SN up on this site.

From what i have read, it seems like it is an E reciever, but I got the SN, and will ask the rents to call tomorrow. Long distance calls and being on hold don't mix

Savage has a 1-800 number - and don't count the BSA scope for anything in the price (you will need to replace that to get a setup that will do all the rifle is capable of).

But I can sell it. I am looking at a Bushnell, Nikko Stirling, or Mueller for it.

    Savage says gun is E-reciever.

The only company I know that has an inlet for the "E" reciever is SSS.

Will the lack of an accutrigger affect the stock inletting if the receiver is an e-receiver?

That question was the only thing keeping me away from the gun. Thanks 82boy

I notice you said it has the RB trigger. if it's an e-action it does NOT have an RB trigger.
I've been talking to clay at RB and they have to engineer a different sear for it.
so it'll be a little wait.

I have emailed RB to see what they have to say. Based on the serial number, savage says it is an E-reciever, and was accu-trigger.

accu-trigger and rifle basix is 2 different animals.
if savage said accu-trigger, then that's what you have.
it's NOT rifle basix. rifle basix sells a sear for the pre-E-action. but not for the E-action.
However, they are working on it and should have the new sear soon.

Dad got the rifle taken down. The gun is an E-receiver, and it "seems" to have the rifle basix trigger, or so says dad. I have emailed RB twice, but with no reply. I guess I get to wait to see what they say.
