I acquired a Hog Hunter 308 barrel. The sight base is there but the leaf or top part is missing. I understood it was a Williams sight but am unable to find parts. Can't even find a parts list from Savage that lists it or even the whole sight. HELP????

Before you invest in replacement iron sights, read these:

TL;DR You may need to drill and tap for the sights to match a new 12 o'clock index after headspacing your barrel.
I understand the possibility of not having the sights at exactly 12:00. However I reload everything and am not afraid of wildcats, if the sights are off too much I will just put them at 12:00 and end up with a short or long 308, hopefully long. The rifle will be scoped, but since it is going to be a back up gun for the family, I thought having iron sights would be nice.

Gotcha. In my case, when and if I am going to use irons on my drilled and tapped take off Hog Hunter barrel, I will consider making it a 308 'wildcat' to keep the sights clocked. I will assume the responsibility when and if I do that.
I have an idea for my melonited 6.8 barrel for this issue. When I am done, if successful, I will be naming the end result 'Bubba.' Failure will result in me using an ultradot.
WOW! Put the Hoghunter barrel on my action and headspaced. I expected sights might be a few degrees off, but they are nearly 90` off. I never expected that much. Savage action / barrel combinations must all be "originals".

It all depends on where the first thread starts on both the action and barrel.
90° is .0125" off, so hopefully it's in the long direction otherwise you might have to take that much off of a shell holder in order to bump the shoulders back far enough for chambering.

Hey, Bill. I have a set of take-off sites you can have for free if it helps you with your problem. I am guess it might have helped with your original "problem" but probably not so much now. OH, well. :)

I did the really simple thing....
Left the barrel alone & fire formed all my brass to suit the chamber!
