30-06 muzzle brake

Hey guys this is my first post so please bare with me. I have a axis 30-06 and I want to tame it down a little bit. When I fire it jumps around so would a muzzle brake be a good WA to stay closer to my target so I don't have to go find it again?

A break is one way to settle it down or, work on your shooting technique so it doesn't get away from you quite so much.

If you use a bipod learn to load it so the end with the hole where the bullet comes out doesn't jump around.

And, sometimes depending on where you are, maybe hanging out of a tree trying for that trophy buck or laying in the grass waiting for them to show up across the clearing, sometimes it's just part of shooting the '06.

Be glad it's not a 7mm Rem Mag.

Some of the guys here like the bolt on type. They'd be better qualified to tell you about them. I don't care for them.

A muzzle brake would help with your shot recovery a lot, reducing recoil down to about the 243 Winchester level.

I have just had a break put on my 308. I can really feel the difference with my FMJ rounds which I have mainly sent thru it at the range. I did, however, shoot some hunting loads, probably 20 grains more and still felt quite a kick.

I think the Witt brake is the most commonly recommended clamp-on brake around here.
