    first rebarrel issues

rebarreled a 111 in 30-06.the lettering does not line up which i quess is common.done some research and the solution would be to line up the lettering then use a reamer to get proper headspace. is this correct or is there a easier way.

The easiest way would be to not worry about it too much! When I installed an unmarked barrel on one of my rifles, I stamped it myself.

Having to re-ream the chamber and possibly face the breech end (I don't know if that's likely) would make Savage barrel swaps nearly as complicated as other rifles. It sort of defeats the purpose.

Thats right. You can't just ream it, you would also have to face the breech also.

I could care less about how the lettering lines up

when I put a Shilen barrel on a 110, there was no lettering to be seen at all. The shilen came with the Identification stamped onto the breech face. I asked my LGS (also competent gunsmith) if that was legitimate and he said indeed it is.

If I may summarize what has been said. It is not worth the effort.
