can't help on vlp stocks either. I own a bvss, I can tell you it has pillars, a nice wide fairly flat foreend, is a sturdy and not light by any means. looks great with a ss action. I ground mine out and bedded to the pillars with devcon and it seems to be shooting fantastic, I haven't got out much yet.

I used a short action BVSS stock I snagged on EBay for the princely sum of $130 to built my 223 heavy barrel. I'm using a factory 24" non fluted barrel I bought from a forum member. To date, with 69 gr SMK's and Varget, I'm getting five shot groups in 1/2" range at 200 yards. I'm seating the SMK's .004" into the lands. All I did to the stock after receiving it was to bed the action with Devcon.

I would recommend the VLP just because it's a much more comfortable stock to shoot with, and because it has a lower bore height/center of gravity. The BVSS stock is really designed more for prone shooting with it's vertical grip and thick (tall) forearm area.

If match rules allow, you can just add a benchrest forearm adapter to make it a flat 3" forearm.
