The diameter of the receiver is 1.350", the diameter of the barrel is 1.055, do the math.
I want to put a Vortex scope with a 50mm objective on the Savage Model 12 FCV in .223 that I am looking to buy. I am trying to figure out whether the objective will clear the barrel with low Vortex Tactical rings. I have the other measurements but I can't find out the height of the receiver over the barrel. It appears to be fairly significant. I also cannot tell whether there is any taper to the barrel as it leaves the receiver.
I have nothing but the Vortex scope in my possession.
Width of the objective lens = 2.52 (measured outside to outside per Vortex)
Center of the objective lens = 1.26 (calculated)
EGW picatinny rail = .3 to .35 (estimated)
Vortex Low Tactical = .83 (base to center)
Total = 1.13
Difference (1.26 - 1.13) = .13
If the top of the receiver is at least .15 higher than the barrel, then I'm there, I think, without a scope cover that is...
The other "unknown" is whether, since the picatinny rings wrap around the rail, do I really have the .3 rail height to work with.
Any thoughts or has anyone configured their 12FCV this way?
Thanks!

Thank you, Sir.
It should clear, I have a PST 6-24 mounted in seekins low rings on a farrell base on my Savage 12 LRP.
