RUMs are like woman in Stiletto heals, you know they are going to put you in the poor house, but that has never stopped anyone from pursuing them.

The Barrel is 30" long and is profiled so I can do at least 5 or 6 set backs so no worries there, it burns Retumbo so I figure I will get 500 quality shots, and then have it rethroated that is what winter is for.

.257 and 6.5.... Oh how beautiful they are. What kind of velocities do you think you'll get from those?

I have had them all for a while just the 6mm and 7mm are new, I already had a 7mm 10 twist this ones a 12T, I sent them all back over the winter to change a couple of things, one was the neck Dia I don't want to turn necks, one was a deeper throat for longer bullets, and a couple other things crowns ect, I just got them all back at the same time and almost lost it when I opened them up, I have not really found there max FPS yet but the 25 cal will send 87gr Noslers at over 4600 fps, the 6.5 I have had 140gr Sierras over 4000 and 107gr Sierras over 4400, and the 270 I have had 130s and 140s well over 4000 fps, I am going to turn up the Boost and flatten some primers until they cry uncle , I have reached case capacity on most of them, so I am going to have to go to faster powders, giggity giggity

I have only loaded a handful of these, but what you are looking at is a 55gr Nosler with 110 gr of powder, stuffed up where the sun don't shine, 2 to 1 powder to bullet ratio, Issac Newton would be proud.LOL

PS: I need to get out more.

A .223 RUM? Now that's just crazy talk!

Seriously though, would you build one?

The thought did cross my mind, but my 22-06AI with its 65gr of powder is unfortunately all you can stuff down a 22 caliber barrel.

Yes, Chrony photos are definitely in order... I'd LOVE to see what that 6 or the .25 would do to a yote at 4k+ FPS!

You may get some stacking with Retumbo in the neck leading to erratic pressures, I did. Also wasn't slow enough to run the 26 Nosler well. I would start looking for US869 as it will be able to flow through the case neck better.

Yes they will, The bullet RPM is the same as a 243 with an 8 twist sending them at 3000 fps 250,000 RPM. I am not quite there yet but close with no signs of pressure as of yet, I am out of 105s so I am into my 107s now.

You should try a box of the 115 DTACs. They've been awesome in my 243 at 2950. They're well priced too. They're kid of like a longer heavier SMK made by Sierra to David Tubb's specs.
