Ideally a Vortex Viper 2.5-10X with the EBR-1 MRAD reticle looks to be about as good as it gets, but more than I want to spend right now at $600.

This is for a long range all around 308 hog rifle loaded with 208 gr Amaxes, but I might grab it occasionally and run into the woods after a hog, so I at least
want a 3x on the bottom end and 2.5 x would be better yet.

I could see shooting out to 600 yards occasionally so a 12x or 16x on the top end would suit me better.

Some of that might happen very early or very late in the afternoon, like almost dark, so good light gathering is important too.

Nikon has a special run for midway, which is a Prostaff 4-12X40 mildot, but the 40 could be a problem at 12X when its dark.
It mils at 12X.

Also there is a Monarch 2.5-10X, with no parallax for about $400, but then again another $200 would get me the Vortex.

Maybe I should just go back to the Sightron 3-9X mildot I had a while back. Its just okay but only cost like $150.
