The "3" or whatever number is the lower power designator for the scope. The 4-12 that came on some of the package models, had a "4" there.

Yesterday i purchased a savage 111xp3 from bass pro shops for $347 new on clearance the gun is 30-06 camo stock with simmons scope it has ackutrigger question is i was looking for the specs on the gun online and i keep finding 111fxp3 is this the same as 111xp3 read the faq it says the f means synthetic stock xp means package not sure about the 3 im just not finding any pages that show the camo or the 111xp3 was just wanting to look at the specs online. even the 2007 catalog that came with it doesnt list a xp3. thanks for your help.
