I'm in the process of building a 17 Fireball and I need some help on barrel choices. I don't expect bench rest accuracy, but at least 1/2"/100yds or better. My main concern is twist and length--thinking 10 twist, 24" barrel, varmint contour S/S. I'm leaning towards 25 gr and heavier on bullet weights. Any body got any thoughts or-better yet-experience?

Next question-barrel maker/sources--I know Shaw and I think Shilen makes 17 cal blanks, but I haven't found much else. I've tried to contact Apache since he advertises 17 fireball, but I've not had any luck with the email thingy on his website and really haven't found anyone else who chambers the caliber except Shaw and their factory prices are more than anyone else charges for their barrels. My current favorite for quality/price is Mcgowen-I definitely don't want to spend $400 on this barrel. Any thoughts on this??

Thanks for looking-anxious for your input. Steve
