Has anyone ever tried to fill in a large barrel channel with bedding compound or other compounds?
I ordered a Choate tactical stock for my hog hunter that has an excessive gap around the barrel which is the medium contour.
I called the company I ordered the stock from to get a return authorization and was basically told once my action touched to stock (even though it was never fastened) they will no longer refund the purchase. Instead of just chunking the stock in the closet and buying another brand I figured I could atleast explore my options.
A: try to fill in the channel and paint once complete
B: rebarrel with a heavy barrel. Although expensive and I like that the factory length is 20" and threaded.
C: try to sell, which I will definitely lose money there too.
So basically I am in a lose/lose situation and in need of help and advice if anyone cares to lend some.

Haha always better to look on the bright side I guess. I really have no doubt that it will shoot great and cool fast but.... man its ugly
What's the stock made of?
If its fiberglass then it's a easy yes. Making it match without repainting a bit harder.
Brownells Acraglass comes with black dye. Tape barrel to retain free float & bed.
They are made of ryonite polymer, also known as plastic. They do take bedding products like devcon 10110 steel putty just fine but it's heavy.

Jamie, Its kind of growing on me honestly. This is my first "build" and eventually the action will be wearing a Mcgowen bull barrel so I figured it will be a good learning piece that im not petrified to sand and fit.
If your planning on a bull barrel, I don't think you'll want to mess with it. That barrel channel is absolutely perfect for a bull.
I planned on doing a bull from the beginning so I think it will all work out.
I spoke with Mcgowen and the 20in stainless, no contour bull barrel is $335 with a 16 week lead time, so Ill probably looking into other options as I am quite the impatient one.
