El Cheapo Borescope - Part Deux

Just wanted to give an update:
I found this on amazon with a 5.5 mm head,

    http://www.amazon.com/GCA-Waterproof.../dp/B00N4L5N4A

works REALLY well for looking inside barrels,
I scoped my 7mag browning bar and saw a whole bunch of copper closer to the chamber.
For $19 I paid for it, it rocks.
The rifling is easy to see.
I have not tried to shove it down a 223 but in theory it should fit.

So it just plugs into your computer? Is there any soft ware that comes with it? Im going to order one but would like to hear a little more on how it works.

yeah, it just plugs in your pc, it does come with cd but I avoid putting Chinese sourced cds in my computer.
I downloaded iSpy free version, it does great for snapping pics and taking videos and uses high compression codecs.

you could just plug it and view it via Skype, messanger, google hangout, just pick this camera as source.

Thanks for the review! Seems like a great way to go. Basically just buying the camera and using pc as the monitor.

Should make proving or disproving bore cleaner results much more accurate and reliable.

Not to mention checking for throat erosion, phantom burrs and rings.

Thanks for the lead, Stockrex. I just ordered one too. I've been using a Snap On borescope inspection camera but it won't fit down my .223 barrel. Still I could see into muzzle and see copper much better than my eyeball. This might just do the trick.

5.5mm may still be too tight for a .223 barrel.

They have a 5mm for a couple dollars more. I think it is 16' long, just go through the " most viewed" section when you get to the site.

What kind of view does it give you. Forward or to the side like a traditional borescope

...some of them have an accessory mirror that clips into the end of it and you can see 90 degrees. I just wanted to know if this one did

That one is 5 meter cable length I believe the head or camera is 8.5mm on that one from looking at others listings that listing doesn't have the camera size or at least I didn't read it.

That splains it. I'll wait to hear how the 5.5 works in the 223 bore.

It doesn't. Mine had a little trouble getting into a .243 bore!

Sorry about that I didn't read far enough and the other 5mm camera if you read the specs. has an O D of 14.? mm. Looks like the smallest is 5.5mm.

Mine showed up yesterday, but I didn't get a chance to mess with it yet. Plan on playing with it this evening when I get home from work.
