Time to order some bullets. Which is the most common you shoot. Only weight I've shot is the Hornady 55gr SP.Target shooting unless a deer step's out from the woods. Leaning towards the 69gr. Sierra, 1-9 twist factory barrel. Welcome any suggestions.

I wouldn't order 1,000 of anything until I know it shoots out of my rifle.

It will shoot them but it may like one weight or type a LOT better than others.

...For varmints out of my .223 90% of the time are 50gr Nos BT's with Benchmark...All of them are hole shooters.. ...Each has it's own load...Deer get nothing smaller than 85gr Sie. HPBT or 90gr Nos. BT's...

Nosler or Sierra 69 gr HPBT bullets are VERY accurate out of any of the 1:9 twist Savage rifles that I own. These are also VERY accurate bullets in three different AR15's with varying bullet lengths.

Of note, H4895, CCI450 or Rem 7.5's, will be your new friends. :) (work up the load for your rifle....but it is near the top of book max).

I'm loading for a 1/7 twist factory barrel, 26", fluted, stainless steel. I'm shooting 68, 70 and 80 grain Bergers along with 75 grain A-Max and 80 grain SMKs.Best shooting bullet to date is the 75 grain A-Max.

I'm with Ed on this one. I think you're crazy to order 1000 of any bullet, until you've "proved" the bullet in your rifle. You're just opening yourself up for a whole bunch of borrowed heartache.

My factory 22-250 barrel loved the Hornady 50 gr vmax. It would not shoot the Nosler 55 BT or the Berger 52 gr match bullets at all...

There's nothing "wrong" with any of those bullets, it's just that some barrels will like them, and some won't. Buying 1000 before you know is risking 900 to 950 bullets you can't use.

Now that I have a McGowen barrel on my 22-250, it will shoot the Nosler 55 BT's as good or better than the Hornady 50 gr vmax's...

You just never know...

PM your address and I'll send you some 69's to test before you spend that much on 1K. I have some 52 or 53 grain match bullets as well ( i can't remember which right at this moment). I'll toss in some of those as well for you to test. I did just like you and bought a bunch of them because it was recommended by a few different people. I never found a load using them that my Savage shot well. I am still going to test them in my AR but until then I don't need that many.

I use 69 grain SMK's in all of my 223's unless I have a specific reason I am loading for. For me they shoot well in my bolt guns as well as my AR. Varget is also the only powder I use as well. With R-P brass, CCI400's, 69 grain SMK's and 24.5 grains of Varget (I know it is a light load compared to most) my Savage shoots .3's with some regularity. It will always shoot 1/2 inch as long as something isn't going on like me having a crap day or the wind is miserable. It also shoots well out to 400 yards or at least well enough for me.

Give 60 gr. Vmax's a try. They are very accurate in 3 of my stevens/savage 223's.
Then, you should be able to use the same load with 62 gr. TTSX for deer.

I think these boys have got it all wrong ! If a feller has the best part of 1000 bullets that won't shoot in his particular rifle that seems like the perfect excuse reason to build a new rifle. ;D

I think I have a few 60 grain Sierras if you would like to try them.

Don't know why all these guys want to shoot those 52g "girly bullets". Anything less than a 69g bullet in a .223 is a waste of powder. ;D

Because out to 200 yards you dont need heavier (more expensive) bullets. Thats why.

I used to use Bullet Samples.com, The man that started the Co. sold out to another guy that doesn't seem to take much interest in his customer's so don't mess with them anymore. Thank's guy's may take you up on your offer's. Forgot to mention I have tried the Sierra 77gr. they shot and grouped well.
