Model 11VT 52 gn. Sierra MK

Anyone having any luck with this bullet in there 1-9 twist gun? I just ordered some for this and other rifles and am hoping to come up with a load for out to 200 yards. I have H335, Varget, TAC and XBR8208 for powders.

I have starting load data just looking for some of your pet loads and ideas on the kind of jump these bullets like

You rifle will vary from others as far a load amount
My best luck with the sierra bullets is with a jump of .010 to.025
I am partial to varget but that is what I have loaded with the most
You have some good powders listed and all should do well
I have used all with good results, except the xbr8208 which I have not tried
Good luck, have fun, and be safe

You never take someone's pet load and start there. I just read on another forum where a guy with a .223 like yours started with a pet load. Only problem was the pet load was almost 2 grains over max and it set the bolt up . He had to take a lead hammer to open it. Start at about the lowest with h335 and work up, your rifle will tell you whether it likes it or not. Don't make the mistake early on by looking for pet loads.

Guys, this isn't my first rodeo. I'm looking mainly to see what's working for others. Like, how fast can i push this in a 1-9 before it flies apart. How far others are loading these off the lands and what kind of accuracy others are having with this rifle/load.

I will run my usual ladder test and then adjust seating.

    thanks for all the help

JW- that's where i usually end up with the bigger matchkings i have shot. Not sure this little bullet will can be seated that far out

My nine twist model 12 really likes 50 to 55 grain Sierra BlitzKing, Nosler HPBT, Hornaday FBSP and V-Max, especially the 53 grain with a BC of .290. I use 8208XBR, 3031, TAC, N133, and am still working on ideal seating depth, but typically I aim for .025 off. One load that I use as a benchmark to compare any load being worked up is a cheap, off the shelf load by American Eagle in the 50g tipped. These seem to shoot very well out of my model BVSS. 25.7 g of 8208 or TAC pushing a 52 or 53g load at 3300 fps seems to be a "Goldie Locks" load for my gun. As always, your mileage may vary.

Sierra's accuracy load is 26.9 of H335 with your bullet which I also use. I load with a lot of H335 and in warmer weather you have to drop the charge by a half a grain at the very least. This load I gave you is for a bolt action. N133 is the accuracy load for ar-15's.

What cartridge are we talking about here?

I have a Stevens 200 custom build with a 1:9 CBI and I am shooting those over 24.0 of Varget. According to the book this is a starting load, but it shoots them into very small groups. It's a new gun and I'm just starting to test loads, but that one looks like it's going to be a winner out of the gate. Dont' be afraid to start on the low end with the Varget.

Oh.. and good point Earl. I assume we are talking .223 here. If not, ignore what I have said.

Assuming it is a .223 then the part about how fast can you push the bullet is moot. You are not going to push a 52gr MK fast enough to spin it apart in a .223 with a 9 twist barrel.

Yep ask Deano as we both use the same book to get our loads from. Sorry folks it was a very small printing run and only a couple of copies were printed.
