X-Caliber barrel range report

I got this 26" SS Varmit contour 10 twist 308 Winchester barrel from Jim @ Apache about 3 months ago... I've got about 150 rounds down this barrel so far.. Finally found a pretty sweet spot with the 168 SMKs at 42 grains of IMR-4064 and 2.860 OAL. My chrono shows this load running about 2530 FPS but the Strelok trajectory calibration feature uses 2630 FPS to compensate. Pretty decent shooting for me personally...

That is awesome. I'm trying to decide on a 280 Rem or 6.5 Swede for my next project. I've got many Apache barreled rifles, none with the X-Caliber blanks, and they all shoot fantastic. These barrels seem to be worth the extra money. I believe I'll be trying one soon.

Here is a few 3 shot groups we shot at 612 yards this week with the X-Caliber 308.... Top group was .71 moa and the bottom was .37 moa...

That was my first batch of Lapua Brass. I pretty much just neck sized it and loaded it. I did all of my load development with FC brass from FGMM ammo..

Very nice groups. How far off the lands are you?

Thanks a bunch... I did my ladder testing on the lands and have sinced backed up to just .005 off the lands. The next range trip I am going to jump some a little more and see what happens... I will say this, these are some of the best groups I've shot with this rifle. Like everybody else I'm sure, I shoot a bunch where the nut behind the gun messes up... My reloading is getting better but still has a few things that could be improved on to create more consistent ammo.

Shoots fantastic. Scores are up consistency up. Probably order another in a few months, so it's ready to go whenever this one does.
