Steel Rings and Steel Base Rail Question

This is not a model specific ring and base question.
it is a CALIBER specific general question.

For a .308 Savage (10 series) that will not see 1000's of rounds down the pipe..
No hot reloads. Just factory 168gr and 175gr match ammo.
    Scope weight: 31oz

Is there any reason what so ever to use steel rings and steel base for this caliber? I love overkill, but the cost is quite a bit more. I dont think an ounce or two more weight is going to hurt at this point. I just dont want to pay extra for something that may gain me nothing over alloy rings and rail.

Yeah, .338 Lapua and any hard hitting magnum caliber is a different story.

Aluminum is stronger than the steel. Steel only adds weight and with the recoil of more weight it is harder on the screws.

I love steel for a lot off things........scope mounts are not among them.
No problem with steel but even my 338s all wear aluminum just fine.
