    12 BVSS vs. Low Profile?

I'm interested in a new .223 Model 12 varmint low profile or BVSS. The specs are almost the same between the two models, although the stocks look a bit different. Small price difference. Is the stock the only difference? Advantages/disadvantages either way?

The bvss stock has more of a flat bottom which makes for shooting from bags or a front rest very nice. I have one and it is a beaytiful stock. I generally shoot mine from a bipod, so the bottom really doesn't matter.
They are both nice stocks and im sure you would be happy with either. I guess your style of shooting should dictate which one you should get.

The BVSS pistol grip angle is generally preferable for the prone position.
I personally prefer the more vertical grip for everything but the conventional grip on the low pro is easier for some folks when shooting freehand.

Check out mwerks to see if any rail adapters will fit what you are looking at in a rifle. It may give you the best of both worlds.

I own two model 12's both LPV's 223 & 243 and just ordered a 12 BVSS in a 22-250. Could not ask for a better target/varmit rifle. Tried to find a 12BTCSS in a 22-250 for over two years with no luck. BVSS or LPV you can't go wrong with your choice.

The bvss has a internal centerfeed mag and the vlp has a detachable mag, as well as slightly different stocks.I have 2 model 12 bvss's love them both, one is 223 the other 308 great shooting and great looking guns. Unfortunately the price of these beauties has forced me to purchase the 12fv models recently, the 12fv shoots just as well but the all black look is not something I personally care for but 400.00 cheaper I can change the look someday.

This should help with your decision: I have both and love 'em equally!

Actually, I have the BVSS in .223 for four years and each year we go to Montana for prairie dogs. An excellent rifle for this. The VLP is a very recent purchase. Still in the break-in process and this one is a 204R. Only 20 rounds through it so far. All shots make a ragged hole at 100 yards. It looks like it's going to be a great shooter as well.
