    Action and Stock for Barrel

I have a 6.8 SPC AR that I really like but I bought a Savage barrel, melonite (magnum profile) in 6.8 along with a bolt head.

So now I am looking for an action or host gun to put it in. I really like the look of stainless steel but A) I am frugal and B) the barrel is not stainless. I have one pistol that is parkerized and I hate that finish. My AR gets the crap scratched out of it and I do not care--but it is aluminum.

Even with the heavier profile I will be hunting in the woods with this rifle, walking. I cannot fathom how to install iron sights on the barrel (very hard treatment) and so it will be scoped. I like fixed power scopes.

I do not plan on selling this gun. My thoughts:

    Clearance Axis
    Stainless Axis
    Current Axis II
10 Action from NSS and an ebay stock
    11 Hog Hunter
SS Varmint Action from NSS and an ebay stock
    16 Weather Warrior

If short action, the host caliber only impacts the magazine modification (internal or external.)

Used is a possibility but I have no idea where a good place to look is.

I'd choose the 11 Hog Hunter in 308 or 338 Federal, simply because the parts you'll be removing have more value in the classifieds and the barrel channel is already opened up for the heavier barrel. Easy, low cost swap.
