    First Savage MkII bolt gun

Just picked up a new Savage MkII, FV-SR. Been shooting semi auto 22's but needed more consistency for a rimfire match my club runs.
Was a toss up on a FV-SR or the TRR-SR (want to get a can this year). Got a good deal on an local NIB pre-owned FV-SR.
So slapped on a SWFA Super Sniper 12x and Harris bipod. Still need to get a 20 or 25 MOA base and Boyd's stock.
I am looking forward to giving my friends CZ's some consistent competition.

    Hi

Nice rifle. I have a MK11 BSEV and regularly beat those with not only CZs but also the Germanic Anschutz. Especially when using RWS R50

    Good luck

    Jack

Tried to post a picture of my rifle but don't understand why I cannot just upload a picture from my PC and not have to understand what an HTML is

Try Norma TAC 22 ammo, my Savage loves it. !st box I tried shot a 5 shot 75yard group .325 outside to outside. I get mine from bullets.com now up to $4.99/50.

OK I'll give Norma a try but I have to say the RWS R50 takes some beating but, it isn't cheap at £9.50 ($14.60) a box of 50 It works so well in my MK11 BSEV (finally figured out how to upload a picture). A CZ / Anschutz beater if ever there was.

Thanks for the info, I will order some Norma Tac 22 up. Now if mother nature will just cooperate. I can get working on my dope sheet.
Typical weather here in Denver. 70 on Saturday, barely 40 on Sunday and Monday, we got a few inches of snow.

Wish I were there , -10f yesterday morning & will be again thursday morning. Norma Tac22 is headstamped RWS & I'm sure the exact ammo as RWS Rifle Target as they look the same, the bullet, the powder weigh the same, even the tray & box are the same just the box printing of course is different. Now they have a Norma Match with I'm quite sure is RWS Rifle Match.

Nice rifle, I have the same rifle with the Boyd's Tacticool stock and really like it. What rimfire matches are you shooting in Denver area?

Colorado Rifle Club in Byers has a 3 22lr matches. http://crci.org/EventSchedule/tabid/2244/Default.aspx

Steel Dogs Rimfire - Which is the match I bought the MkII for. There isn't a close USPSA match on this Sunday, so it fits perfectly in my shooting schedule.
    Smallbore Rifle Silhouette
    Rimfire Challenge

The Steel Dog match has target from 35yrds out to 200yrds. Shooting position is up to the shooter (usually prone or off a bench). Most stages have a max time limit to complete.

The two of you are truly blessed with the accuracy of your respective rifles.

I have seen exactly one Savage rimfire that can keep up with my CZ and none that shoot as well as my 1913a. This was with Eley Match, RWS-50 and Lapua Midas +.

Jack1- Don't complain on the ammo price. I pay more here in the US. What does Eley Match cost in Kent?

    Hi
Thought you might like to know UK prices for Eley and RWS I'll leave to currency conversion to you. The fact is is that RWS R50 and even RWS target rifle on a good day will equal or beat Eley in my Savage MK11 at 50 metres. It has been know to get a touch 'girlie' and '*****y' at the club with comments of Germanic plain and utilitarian Anschutz and a stylish designer Savage. In fact it got so bad one member referring to his beloved rifle said "at least I can spell Savage". We are all friends really but equally very competitive.
I tend to use Target Rifle for practice and R50 for comps.

    Hi

Tried this reply just now and the tabulation didn't work so here it is again hope it works this time. This is what we pay over here and I'll leave the currency conversion to you
My experience is that RWS R50 and my Savage will beat an Anschutz and we have only one CZ shooter and it beats him also. It can get a bit touchy with comments like "Germanic and utilitarian" Anschutz or "Good looking and stylish" Savage. One member said of his beloved rifle "at least I can spell Savage". We are all friends really but very competitive.
