    Rimfire bolt head?

Is it possible for someone (with the skills and equipment) to machine a bolt head for a Savage rifle, that offsets the firing pin, so as to allow the use of a rimfire barrel?

I have run a few ideas through my mind (quick trip) and one of them would be a false face where the base of the cartridge rests, that would have an offset pin, that was struck from behind by the center fire pin.

    Make sense?

No real "need" for all this, but was thinking it would be a good way to acclimate someone to a centerfire rifle, but shooting rimfire ammo. You could also switch from centerfire, to 22LR, 22 WMR, 17 HMR and 17M2, all with the same receiver, stock, scope, etc. What ever suited your mood or needs.

Of course, it would require special barrels.

I guess it's been tried. Not economically feasible.

    Always good to ponder though.
