Picture of 99a .358 front sight needed

    I just bought a '77 99A .358 to keep my '57 99R .308 company but I need some expertise.

The 99A came with a Weaver K3 mounted and the front blade and ramp were removed long ago and lost by the previous owner (doh! ). I'm trying to locate a factory original sight ramp and blade as the ones from Numrich don't have the machined ridges to cut glare like the factory ones. Can anyone post a high def pic of the profile of their original front sight and sight ramp installed on their 99A .358 as well as a pic of the # stamped into the front sight blade? Or can someone tell me what # or height the front sight is supposed to be or where I might be able to source the factory original parts?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Paul

Should be the same sight as the 99C of the same year, can't be that hard to find a 99C sight......could it?

My 99C in 284 has the number 38 stamped on the side of the front blade.

Thanks Mad Dog! That is a great start. I know there is a NOS #38 on GunBroker right now but I am hoping that I can verify that is the same # on the .358. I'd hate to spend the $40 only to find it shoots too high or too low and that I don't have enough adjustment with the rear sight to correct. Maybe I'm crazy, I don't ever plan on selling either of my 99s anyway, just hunt with them, keep 'em sweet and pass them onto my kids some day. Probably won't install the front sight unless I swap out the scope and rings. Somehow I feel it's my duty to at least have the parts on hand to keep this one original since it is so sweet already.

I know the seller on GB, he's a buddy of mine, he probably has the ramp that goes with it of you need that part to.

That would be awesome if he did! Thanks for the heads up. I'll reach out to him tonight or tomorrow. Should I tell him that Mad Dog sent me?

Hey Mad Dog, Check this out. I contacted Lightfoot last night and he has the ramp and the sight I need, thanks for the recommendation. I also contacted a Cabela's Gun Library that had a Brush Gun .358 posted on GB and asked if they could check the sight for me. Got an email back this morning saying that they updated the pictures on the posting to show the front sight. Link was included.

Looks like my search is over. On to finding a sweet 99R .250-3000.

Just passed a very nice R in 250 for $650 US. Still thinking about that.

Mmmm....I bet you are. Seems like a pretty reasonable price too, at least in comparison to the ones listed online.
