    Large shank threaded remington?

Has anyone ever opened up a Remington to accept large shank savage barrels? Savage large shank is 1.125 x 20. I believe the remington is 1.022 x 16. The outside diameter of the actions are the same.
I know savages have been opened up from small to large shank, but some say it shouldn't be done.
I don't know anything about Remington's except they have a lot more after market support.
Is there a reason why this would or would not work?

I do not believe there is enough material to do it and I myself would not do it.

Kind of the same idea as the shilen action. Remington footprint and accessories, and lots of cheap easy to swap savage barrels.

I wanted to be humorous on my first post and probably failed. The reality is that you can go with a Remage barrel for around the same price. The Remington bolt head is much different than the a Savage and the Remington barrels have a profile that is much different as well. Shilen addressed that. Start doing some research and you will find it is not worth it.

Remington discussions are Off-Topic on a Savage site and don't belong in the 110 board. Moved accordingly.
