I created a little monster.....and couldn't be happier!

So my kid comes in the shop last night while I was doing a bit of cleaning. The conversation goes like this:

Dad: What are you up to bud?
Josiah: Nothing just wanted to remind you I am out of bullets for my rifle.
Dad: Yeah I know. I have been meaning to pick up a box or two so we can go back to the range.
Josiah: From the store?
Dad: yeah.
Josiah: Why not just build me some?
Dad: I don't really have time right now.
Josiah: Nevermind then don't bother.
Dad: What? Why not?
Josiah: Are you going to shoot the stuff from the store?
Dad: No I still got some from my last bunch I built.
Josiah: Well that stuff from the store doesn't shoot as well I can't really hit what I'm aiming at every time.
Dad: Well your just practicing.
Josiah: Well I like to hit what I'm aiming at and don't see the point of shooting if I can't do that every time.

So he helped me prep cases for 50 rounds and we loaded them last night. I now have a bullet snob for a son and couldn't be happier. He is 9 years old BTW!

Go load your own ammo kid! My grandson just turned 4 months and I already have 2 rifles set up for him and plan to get him loading his own as soon as he can pull the press handle. I love it when kids take an interest in guns/hunting. Lucky you!

That's a great story.

I remember when my wife was expecting our only child, people would ask if I was hoping for a boy or girl. I said, "A bow hunter!"

Well, as it turns out, she is real good with a bow, but won't shoot it. Won't try firearms, either. Has been to deer camp, but didn't care for it much. She did say she's glad she went. Now she better understands some of my stories about what goes on there and why I (not her) likes it so much. Of course, I don't share all my stories with her, but it's all good.

So, at 17 she dreams of performing on Broadway and is looking for a gentleman who loves theater and that sort of thing as much as she does... I am hoping she finds one that also likes to shoot and hunt. :)

As for getting it right, (hand loading and not settling for second best when she's capable of better), she's kinda there herself. I just can't tell the difference between her "best performance and her second best", cuz in my mind, she's always tops.
