Savage model 16 223 action vs model 12 vlp 223 action

Asking for my brother here. He's looking to do a build off a stainless steal action. Just as the title asks what's the difference between the actions on model 16 223 action vs model 12 vlp 223 action. Besides for the barrels and stocks... Is there a difference between the 2 actions? All I see is one is the old style bolt release (model 12) and one is a bottom bolt release(model 16). Both have the accu triggers. Thanks in advance!

Yep, same action other than the bolt release location and the bolt handle included. The 16 will have the standard small knob handle and the 12 will have the large knob handle. VLP will be small shank the same as the 16.
