    what cleaning rod

Hi guys I'm on my third tipton car on fibre cleaning rod and the brass tip is bent where it connects to the shaft. All have the same problem. I am returning it.

What is a better cleaning rod or what do you use?

    Thanks

Was it bent when you received it new? Sounds like shipping damage. I have a couple of these rods and love them. They've served me well for many years. Can you post a pic of the damage?
To answer your question, Dewey stainless rods are thought highly of also. I believe they are coated but I'm not positive on that.

They were bent from factory, not from shipping as they come in very tough tubes.

I still store mine in those very tough cardboard tubes.
That's unfortunate to hear. Hopefully they'll double up on their quality control, because the older rods I have are a quality product.
Give the Dewey rods a try.

I use the boretech rods(borestix)..it is a solid product and if you do have a problem, customer support is great.

where are you getting these from. Mine are all manufactured nicely. Can the QC department be that bad. Were they purchased by an investment co?

I use a couple of the Gunslick carbon rods. Very happy with them.

I have tipton and dewey both have worked well, except for the 17 cal tipton rod broke it using it on a 204 ruger went with a dewey 20 cal and have had no problems. Carbon fiber seems to work better on the larger calibers.

Not a fan here. There is no way I'd pull one of those things through a barrel that I cared about very much. I do own a few of them that I bought a long time ago but I don't use them anymore. My main gripe is that the brush section is really hard and inflexible and probably scratches the bore, especially if it's contaminated with dirt or grit. I know, it can be washed, but who brings a washing machine to the range?
If I were on a hunting trip, and accidentally stuck my so-so factory barrel in the mud, I'd use one after I poked most of the mud out with a stick. That's about the extent of my affection for them though.
Btw, I've hunted with shotguns and rifles for about 35 years, and I can't remember ever having stuck a barrel in the mud. So I guess I really have no use for them lol.
