Savage model 220L single shot 410 PARTS HELP

So far noone has been able to provide a complete schematic online of the old 220L 410 Savage. I did find a couple gun parts suppliers but their diagrams dont list the spring I'm looking for. Below is a couple pics of the spring in question, maybe you old school guys can help me. It's either the cocking spring or the load/safety spring. I don't know if it is included with the part that it is attached too(and this is why I cannot locate it) or if it is separate. Rather difficult to describe but let me try, it's U shaped and at the U ends the spring becomes coiled 3 times(as it fits over the cock/hammer and then ends in 1/2 inch straight pins that hook behind the trigger mechanism to allow the spring to function(spring).

Any help appreciated, trying to repair this shotgun and hand it down to my son, it was my grandfathers.

email : www.gun-parts.com and describe and include pics of the spring. He will take some time to respond, but he may have it in stock....otherwise, take it to an old gunsmith and bring your wallet.

Good luck - they are nice old guns.

    Do you have bigger pictures?

e-gunparts lists a forend spring that is shaped like you describe. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/...00G&catid=5498
However, from your description and what I could make out in the pictures (trigger group?), it may be the hammer spring (http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/...570&catid=5498) or trigger spring (http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/...280&catid=5498).

Ordered a couple springs from egunparts already, they are quite the sticklers for not asking questions about the parts being ordered. Problem was I waited a week for someone to get with me on an email request, still nothing and there website is great but it lacks photos for half the parts for this weapon. The springs I got were not even close to the one needed. I guess I'll just try the hammer spring now and see what shows up at my door :-\
    thanks for your help

The owner ther is always overwhelmed and much of what is listed on his site is long gone in my experience.
    I'd look into a gunsmith.
    Good luck.
