I have a savage axis 30-06 that i am planning to rebarrel with a 30 inch bull barrel to get rid of my sporter barrel and to try and correct this massive accuracy issue. I got to thinking so i figured i would ask what calibers will my bolt face accept besides 30-06? Thanks in advance

No. that is not in the 30-06 or 308 family. You are looking at 22-250, 6BR (as a single shot), 243, 250-3000, 260, 6.5x284, 7-08, 284, 308, 338 federal, 358 Win, 25-06, 270, 280, 30-06, 338-06, 35 Whelen, or any wildcat that is based on the 250, 308, or 30-06 brass. There is probably a few I forgot to mention but that's the main list.

All of those cartridges have a rim diameter of .473". The 300 weatherby and most other magnums have a rim diameter of .532".

Thanks for the replys fellas. Ill enlighten yall on my issue and why im wanting to rebarrel. I can take my savage axus 30-06 and attempt to zero at 100 yards on a 2'x2' target using reactive targets and have a constant 3 shot grouping of about 6 inches at 100 yards. Scope is good mounts are good also and before its mentioned no its not me im military trained as well as hunted fir most of my young life, my father a retired LEO marksman, a former usmc uncle and several leo friends have shot the same weapom with the same results as myself. WE are clueless why this weapon is so inaccurate.

Could just be you got a bum barrel. it happens once in a blue moon, me I would try another scope that is known and proven itself to you of being in perfect working order and try again before I rebarreled, but if you want a barrel anyway then by all means order one up and enjoy.

How did you arrive at this conclusion?
What poundage is your trigger?
Are your action screws tight?

It could be worthwhile to replace the cheapest components first, especially if there are no visible problems with the barrel.

Speaking of which, what does the bore look like, especially at the muzzle end? Any obvious machining problems or damage to the lands and grooves? Is there fairly consistent powder fouling on the muzzle? Does the fired brass look normal? Is anything touching the barrel other than the receiver and barrel nut?

Is the factory barrel a "copper mine"? A lot of copper fouling will ruin accuracy. Many Savage barrels can be copper mines until broken in. Some never loose the "copper mine" moniker no matter how much they're shot and cleaned to bare metal.
