The only other aftermarket manufacturer of Axis stocks is Sharp Shooter Supply, though MDT is supposed to be introducing a system shortly.

I wouldn't say Boyds stocks are crappy. Only one of the six I've gotten had to be returned for a defect. My major problem with them is the production cost-cutting they've engaged it. My first-run stock came with a steel front action screw escutcheon and steel trigger guard. Later stocks came with a steel escutcheon and plastic trigger guard. More recently both action screw bearing points are plastic. Some folks are okay with this, but it has kind of put me off.

On the other hand, SSS stocks are unfinished, incomplete, and twice as expensive. Still, I will likely look there first if I am in the market again.

I went with Boyd's. I'm happy with the fit and finish of mine, though I have yet to fire it with the new stock.

Website says "Axis short calibers". Weird, the Axis uses a long action.

But the magazine box is different lengths. "Short Action" refers to .308 Winchester length cartridges, while "Long Action" refers to those based on the 30/'06 Springfield.
