    Waiting for barrel

Installed new sear then trigger. Just finished painting the stock. I like it but I don't know why, wife even likes it.
Now wait for the 223 AI barrel to arrive then the fun begins.

    Yes the drive needs cleaning

I built a 223AI a few years ago and LOVE it! Mine is chambered in a SinArms barrel, heavy varmint, 28" with 1 in 8 twist.

Barrel came 45 minutes ago only had time to screw it on hope to be able to set HS tomorrow and maybe get to the range Sunday but most likely Tuesday. \

    From Apache SS 1 X 7 .223 AI

Jim had an issue getting me the CM barrel so he sent me a SS no extra cost. Great guy to do business with.

    Houston we have a problem.
The bolt easily closes on no-go gauge. Sent Jim an Email with the specs of my barrel nut and recoil lug.
I need more threads on barrel or thinner recoil lug or take something off the barrel nut.
I don't want to do the recoil lug since it was on when I bedded the action.
The rifle is saying to be fired.

Question how to you measure the torque when tightening the barrel nut? I have the SS barrel nut tool.

Just got an Email from Jim he said to send him the barrel, barrel nut and recoil nut and he'll take care of it. Very fast response considering it's Saturday. (1:15 PM)

Some people use a rubber mallet to torque them. There is a thread on here from recent past and the consensus wa that using a torque wrench set to 35 plus lbs was good. I like 40 in/lb's.

Apache has won quite a few people over hasn't he.

Old laminated stock don't know brand. It was banged up and after filling the holes and dings I didn't think it would look good natural.

Had an adjustable on another stock that had no rifle so I put it on this. Need to file the butt plate to match the stock but I'll shoot it first then if I decide to keep it.

Still waiting the return of the barrel. Got the recoil lug and barrel nut back last week but no barrel.

Barrel sent back 2/17 still don't have. He is out of town the rest of the month.

Barrel install was easy. Now to get to the range hopefully Friday. Whole thing weighs 15.6 lbs. I will have to be really recoil sensitive to feel anything when shooting it.
Also added a Southern Ordnance bolt handle.
