    Sear? Etc.?

    I went to the range Wednesday and my Striker wouldn't cock, when I closed the bolt it uncocked. Now it's working again, after a lot of screw turning.
    I can't figure out how the Savage bolt guns work. The "COCKING PIECE PIN" is the only thing sticking out of the bolt. Is this what the sear engages and disengages to fire the gun?
    The only thing I can see that might engage the cocking piece pin is the square pin that I see moving back and forth with the safety. Is this what the trigger pulls down, firing the gun?
    Thanks;
    joe b.

    It helps some. Pictures would help. Still stuck on how this cocks, and where the sear is.
    Thanks;

    The sear and the bolt release are the same part. The cocking piece pin engages the sear/bolt release inside the right raceway.
