You've got it all figured out. I shoot one that was once a 30-06 and it feeds fine from the magazine as long as I seat each round against the back of the mag box.
First post here been reading for a while can't come up with answers I need. I have a 110 chambered in a 7 mag. I have a 22-250 varmint contour barrel. I'm putting it in a houge over molded stock with detachable mag. The gun currently has a blind mag.
So I wanna know what I'm missing. I know I need a smaller bolt face(one from a 30-06)also I'll need a 30-06 mag and mag frame. What am I missing. I know a 22-250 is short action but I can use it in a long action?

Yes you can. It may feed from your mag fine.
Your 7mmRM bolt face is keyed for the bolt body. The 30-06 bolt head is not keyed. You may need to inlet, grind, or otherwise key the new bolt stem. Then you'll be all set.
I drove the divot in the bolt body back out, sanded, and polished it smooth. Then no in-letting will be necessary from now on.
I think I'm gonna just get another rifle and use it as a donor. To save myself some trouble and be money ahead. Because my 7 mag has a blind feed mag and I tried just swapping stocks from my savage 111 300 win mag and the mag wouldn't work the actions are designed different.
Ok well got a different donor rifle. It was a 270 so got it all done and it doesn't feed as well as I'd like any ideas I have a dbm.
