Hi guys, i have always thought that the bench guns where you can load from the left look really cool. I have a friend who is a machinist, would it ruin my rifle to have him cut the left side out to mimic these bench guns? It looks like the area that would get machined out wouldn't hurt the gun but i dont know for sure. Thanks in advance.

IIRC Jim Baker had one of these done as you are describing. Regardless I know I have seen someone here do that and it worked fine.

Just as a related but separate question, could a right-handed bolt handle and body be used with a left-handed bolt head and receiver?
If my memory is correct 82Boy had one done on a stainless. If taking barrel off, it would be good time to face off receiver & add standard type barrel lug.
Short round, what do you mean by face off the reciever?
Sounds about right. I couldn't remember if Axis shelves were cut for both hands, which seems like something that would be incorporated in the interchangeable receiver design.
