i want to put a new stock on my savage 200 stevens came across a bell & carlson savage 10 short action 4.275screw spacing heavy barrel varmint stock for around 150 was wondering if this would fit my rifle its a 308 later down the road i will be getting a heavy barrel for it

You need to check your screw spacing. If your 200 is a newer one it more then likely is 4.40 spacing.

I have 2 Stevens 200 actions, both are 4.40". Some manufactures list the spacing as 4 3/8" which is close enough. Take the action out of the stock. Install the 2 screws, using calipers measure the outside distance subtracting .250". That will get you center distance of the holes.

I have a B&C Tactical Medalist A2 on a Stevens action in .308 an like it.

From the front trigger guard screw to the furthest screw on the fore end. If you go to stocky's site they have a picture to show you Boyds does also.

It kind of bothers me as to why Boyd's and B&C don't have an inlet for a left-hand Savage. No love for us southpaws.

since the action is the same as a 10 would any savage 10 stock fit it

Me too. That is why I deliberatly steer my friends and anyone else away from companys that do not offer left hand options and try to promote those who do.

I really believe that we left handers need to be more vocal and active with our wallets if we ever expect things to change.

I am right handed, but I have sympathy for the left hander. I was in organized archery for years. The bow manufacturers finally caught on and started offering more and more models in left hand. Sale's took a big jump. Companies can really increase their profits and also the shooting sports will continue to grow and so on and so on. We should do something about this on going problem. Please forgive me for hi-jacking.

As a lefty, I prefer my rested rifles to be right handed. If it's likely that I'll shoot it off-hand, then a lefty rifle works better for me. From the bench or any other rest, I can work the action with my right hand which is otherwise unoccupied and don't have to shift my grip with my strong hand.

Yessir, that is the norm for lots of folks. My dad required that I learn to shoot from either shoulder with the rifle and with either hand using a revolver or pistol. With the rifle I really prefer to shoot left handed with a RH bolt gun but with a handgun my right hand is way smarter than my left!! And there are some "Situations" where having a couple lefties in the group has been a God Send!
