    Smokeless proofed barrels

Does anybody know if there is a barrel that can be put on a Rem 700ml to shoot smokeless powder? I have one that just sets in the back of my safe and collects dust , and I thought I may be able to do like a remage swap and get some more use from it .

What bore size do you want?

Any barrel acceptable for Centerfire cartridges is capable of withstanding Smokless powder as a ML.

Are you stating that you want to make your muzzle loader a rifle with a modern cartridge? Interesting. Does this action have lugs for a bolt?

Robinhood, I believe he is wanting to make his own version of a 10ML-II muzzle loader off of a Rem 700ML action. It can be done and there are several companies (whose names escape me at this moment) that do this conversion on the 700ML.

And no the 700ML actions do not have lugs capable of making them shoot a metallic type cartridge.

Boots you are correct, that is what I meant to say. I don't have a project going right now and I enjoy shooting my 10ML-2 and don't want to go back to black powder or a substitute. If I do this I would like to set it up for a no sabot load.

There is a guy here in Iowa that is doing that very thing, if I can remember his name I will get you his info so you can talk to him about building one.

Luke at smokelessmz can get you a .45 Brux, Pacnor or McGowen prefit for the 700ML action. He also has .392/.400 barrels on order. You also need a Hunter bolt nose kit, Savage breech plug and .186/.187 recoil lug which he sells. He will put the barrel on the action, install bolt nose kit and headspace also for a small fee. Great guy to do business with.

Here is my .40 on a 700ML action.

Whether a muzzleloader can handle smokeless or not is more a matter of the breech plug design than it is the barrel itself. As was said, any aftermarket centerfire barrel will stand up to smokeless muzzleloader pressures (around 40 kpsi give or take), but whether or not the breech plug design will withstand that pressure is the big question.

Don't do it!!!!!!!!!! It's to addictive once you launch a few 275-300gr bullets at over 2700fps you won't go back, then you can get into the .40cal stuff after you get tired of the .45.

Go to Dougs Message Board you will find all the information you could ever want under the smokeless section.

I have been addicted since about 1964 or 65 to different things in the shooting game and I have had my 10ML- II for about 12 or 15 years. So I don't get riled up and jump into things with out investigating first. LOL Thanks for the link to the message board.

Luke at Arrowhead Sporting Goods LLc. will be able to hook you up with everything you will need. He can also do the conversion for you, you send him your action and money and he will send you back your action barreled and head spaced ready to be installed into your stock.
