Yep, same action
So. I am looking at buying a savage! My first bolt action! I'm stuck between the youth model and adult! Went to the store, they had a youth on sale for $420 plus 10% off! The only difference I saw was that the youth didn't have a recoil pad! And of course the barrel is 20" (will be used for varmint and deer in the MN woods) My question is, would I be able to install an aftermarket adult stock (choates, B&C, etc.)to the youth model? I'm about 5'9'' and I was planning on putting a recoil pad for a little length in the mean time while I decide what stock to settle on. Thanks!
Yep, same action
Perfect. So I have nothing to worry about while buying this firearm in hopes of building something in the future?
No worries with building off of that action
All you need to pay attn to is where the bolt release is and if it's a stagger feed or centerfeed
Net $380??? I'd jump all over that one!
$20 neoprene slip on butt pad by Beartooth can be made any length you want.
I have one in .308 I haven't fired yet but really like. 20 inch .308 is cool to me. Don't know if that is a handicap in .243, though.
Also, mine has he Axis style plastic-clip mag. Not thrilled with that, but at least the plastic "bottom metal/surround" is removable. If the one you are looking at has a traditional detachable box mag with metal retaining clip, I'd definitely jump on it.
sorry for all the added posts... :)
If it is the Trophy Hunter youth XP (package Nikon Scope), there is also a $75 factory rebate avail thru end of year.
Haha no problem. I don't know if it was the trophy hunter one, i believe it has a Bushnell scope on it. 3-9x40 if I remember right. Standrd reticle. Wasn't paying attention to the scope though. Gonna swap it out anyways.
Doesn't matter... if it is Trophy Hunter XP, I am quite sure it qualifies for the rebate.
