    6.5 x 47 Lapua

In the Late planning stages, Going with a Savage Dual Port Target action sitting in a Savage Palma stock.. For a tube I'm leaning heavily towards a Saturn barrel 30 inch long 1 inch tip fluted. 6.5 x 47 Lapua with the throat cut for 140 grain Berger VLDs and 139gr Lapua Sceaners...... start ording parts mid november..... hope to be shooting before Christmass

Great caliber. Probably wouldn't hurt to read this article: http://www.accurateshooter.com/guns-of-week/gunweek072/

I built a 6.5x47 and followed his recommendations. Mine shoots just as good or better than his with the exact loads/bullets he is using. I have a few friends with the same rifle who can state the same. JMO

PS: Feel free to ask or PM questions

PSS: JMO again, but if you start ordering parts in November, I don't know or wouldn't bet on your Christmas deadline. Not unless you have secrets I don't know about!

But everyone here will be glad to help you with your build. Wouldn't hurt to become a member and you will have a wealth of info available to you.

Action ordered, should be in by Tuesday, stock will be ordered on Tuesday! Savage said they will not sell a Palma stock without a serial number off the action it will mate to.... there are different hole spacings for the target actions.... BUT my research has shown ALL dual port actions do have the "Palma stock hole spacing"

It's simple: It's either 3.44 or 4.40 outer screw spacing.

They say Palma requires a different recoil lug and barrel nut. I have both, there's no difference between Palma and F-Class on these parts. Their quality per their statement states they are better than the others.

I haven't found anyone who could verify this. I am going to give a machinist both of them and let him tell me if there is any difference.

PS: I have a HS stock packaged up, 4.40 spacing. I could easily ship it to you to try out the fit. Just measure it first.

Maybe someone who knows more may jump in.
