It seems to me that it is almost cheaper to buy a ptg already fluted for what they charge to do it with the exception of sss as there price seems reasonable compared to others I priced out. I ended up buying a ptg and it is very well machined and highly recommend it.

I have a SSS fluted bolt, and a couple bolts fluted by Chad Dixon @ Long Rifles Inc.

I know Devin at Sin Arms was showing some examples here awhile back. Might give him a shout, I haven't had him do any fluting, but he did modify some barrels for me and did great work.

I just saw that LRI no longer does anything with Savage...that's unfortunate as the prices for bolt fluting was good.

I went with a PTG that I picked up on one of the forums and love it. The flutes aren't deep or sharp so you don't have to worry about it damaging the rounds in your magazine. Also, the diameter was slightly larger than stock, so it greatly improved the fit and feel while cycling the bolt.
