Biggest Buck for me, but not with Savage...

Well, I didn't shoot it with a Savage rifle, but maybe next year! I shot this up north with my 50Beowulf AR15. Two days to get it out as it was 3 miles in and I didn't track it down until 3pm when I got the quartering away shot at it to slay it finally. Awesome time and it is at the taxidermist and lot's of meat in the freezer!

    Congratulations,
Yep finding the animal and pulling the trigger is the easy part :) .
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.

Had to borrow a Jet Sled from the camp owner and drag it in the next morning. Covered him up with brush and put my sweaty neckwarmer on a tree. We'll just say I did not sleep well that night...

That 50 Beo has interesting recoil but looks like the right cartridge and rifle for the job!

The whole adventure was worth it. For sure. I am going to make one of those photo books for my dadinlaw actually for Christmas with pictures from our week up north. He taught me everything I know about hunting really and I was very glad he was there to share that kill. He actually got an even bigger buck in just about the identical spot back in 1997! 247# You would think we would have learned and had a Jet Sled with us after that first time dragging. Lol!

Was that a Maine deer? If so what part. I spent 9 years at Loring.

Jackman area. I live in Southern Maine, but we hunt up in the Jackman area. Have been for close to 20yrs. I learned to hunt in the Adirondacks with my dadinlaw and Jackman is similar. Love the big woods, open hardwoods, ridges and mountains!
