Hello all!!
So I nailed my biggest buck ever up in northern Maine this year with my AR15 in 50Beowulf. I decided to wort of retire that gun as I want to build something interesting again, which you can tell I like. I built a semi custom Howa 25-06 a few yrs back and like bolt guns. So now I decided to build a Savage gun and am thinking of either a 6.5mm as I have a ton of bullets in that cal, or I am swaying more towards a 338Federal for some reason. I am going to buy a Model 10 donor rifle in 308 and I just bought the barrel wrenches from Wheeler Engineering, so have both slotted and smooth nut capabilities. Can't wait to get this rolling but need to sell a gun or two to finance the project. Glad this site is here to answer all my questions!! One quick one, if I have a smooth barrel nut but I WANT a slotted barrel nut, are they interchangeable? Can I just buy a slotted one and use it?
Thanks all!
Chris
Oh, I build custom furniture and custom knives for a living. I don't make the blades, but I do the handles and sheaths.

Welcome aboard, yes the nuts are interchangeable
Any idea why I can't see any of the classified section? Oh, and do I really have to do that stupid picture verification EVERY time I post??????
Figured it out. I am a paid member now, therefore can look at everything. Never seen that before on a forum. Probably good though.

Welcome - how's the old Beowulf forum doing? I haven't been on there in probably a year, at least...
Look forward to seeing what you do with some Savage stocks in the future.

You don't know what you don't know.
Rick, it is going ok I guess. It is now www.beyond556.com though of course and covers all the variant calibers. Arne Brennan is coming out with a few new cals for the AR15 and the AR10. His first was the 45Raptor and there are others based on the 308 platform coming. One of my Savage builds will be in one of the as of yet created cals he is doing. Should be sweet.
