    Short action magazine length differences

Do all savage short actions have the EXACT same mag length??? I'm getting ready to start a new build and I wanna be able to have the longest COAL possible and have it still be a repeater without having to go to a long action. As far as I know their are 4 options:
    1: blind mag
    2: hindged floor plate
    3: detachable mag "steel"
4: detachable mag "plastic" trophy hunter & axis style.

If you have any or all of these I would really appreciate some measurements
    Thanks - Leo

Yes. All of those styles use the exact same magazine bodies.

The only differences in the SA-CF mags are what round they were designed for. The 223 mags have a shorter follower and a spacer in the rear of the mag body, and the other types (WSM, 22-250, and the 308 based mags) all have different feed lips to accomidate the rounds they were intended for.

HFP, DBM, or blind mag makes no difference.

    Thanks Boots!
Are the SA-CF you are talking about typically the detachable mag or fixed mag style?

CDI bottom metal and AICS mags give you 2.87 max in the mag.

    Thanks,
My brother told me that his 11 trophy hunter xp magazine is over 3". Is that right? If that's true, then I have all the room I need

SA-CF is my abbreviation for Short Action - Centerfeed which just means that it is a Short Action that is equipped with a Centerfeed style magazine. The older Savages used Staggerfeed type magazines and now they all use Centerfeed regardless of Hinged, Detachable, or Fixed. All the magazine types use the exact same magazine hardware for the body and follower, (keep in mind the slight differences I mentioned above depending on the chambering the magazine was originally intended for) it just varies as to whether it is inside a blind hole in the stock for a fixed, or whether it is snapped onto a detachable floor plate (steel or plastic), or if it is snapped onto a Hinged Floor Plate.
