Need Extractor and Detent Ball for Target Action

    Need Extractor & Detent Ball

I lost the extractor and detent ball for my Savage Target Action Bolt for my new 6.5 Creedmoor target rifle that I am building. Midway, Brownell's, and SSS are all out of stock. Does anyone know of any other sources for these parts?

    Thanks

I buy them directly from Savage Arms.....https://store.savagearms.com/partfinder

You may want to replace the factory .125" extractor ball with a .140". You can usually find them at hardware stores, bike shops etc. I'd send you one but I'm out. Maybe some of the other guys have a few.

You can buy a whole bag of them for about 6.00 at brownells and they may the extractor.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!

    Thanks for the replies.

I tried entering my Target Action's serial number into the Savage Part Finder, and got a “Serial Number Not Recognized” response. I guess I'll have to call them to see if they have any Extractors on-hand.

Brownell's only has the .140625” detent balls available in quantities of twenty.
    Here's their info:

    080-679-140WB
    Detent Ball 20-Pak 9/64" (3.6mm) Dia. Ball $15.99

I'll be posting pics of my build in the near future.

Don't forget the tiny spring that goes under the ball.

BTW if you have anything magnetic you should drag it over the carpet where you lost it. You'll never find it by sight alone.

Even a magnet wouldn't help where I lost the extractor - - too much stuff to move in my work/junk room. I still have the spring.

I ordered the Bolt Head kit from Gun Shack for $20.00 + $4.60 sales tax & mailing. Knowing my luck, I'll probably lose the ejector too when I remove it to head space the McGowen barrel (which is ready to ship after a 3 ˝ month wait time for manufacture). I found one hundred 9/64 inch (0.140625”) grade 25 chrome balls at Boca Bearing for $9.95 + $2.00 handling (free shipping) - - doubt that I'll lose them all!

Thanks to everyone for the assistance!
