Savage 111 accuracy problem solved thanks to this forum

Thanks to this forum I was able to solve - at least to my satisfaction - the accuracy problem I had with an old 111 7mm Rem Mag I acquired in a trade. (1) I followed the advice to make sure the barrel was floating from tang to crown. (2) Brought the trigger pull down from 7 lb to 4 lb w/o replacement. (3) Tightened up the action screws to torques suggested on this site. I can now make dime sized three round groups at the 25 yd indoor range, and am looking forward to trying it at the 100-yard indoor range that will be opening up this winter here.

On a related note, I refitted my Axis 243 SS with a Rifle Basix trigger now set a 3 lb and will take it to the range shortly. How low should I go?

Depends on you, I like my triggers to be no more than 2lbs. If you need to shoot with gloves on (cold) then perhaps a 3lb trigger is smarter.

Depends on what you use your riffles for, if your using your 243 for hunting id suggest leaving the heavier spring in the trigger. Both of my riffles are target only and I like them as light as I can safely get them.

Looking forward to hearing how it does at 100 yards.
